Complete post-installation setup, secure your administrator account, configure client permissions, and connect desktop clients.
Congratulations! Your AniStream Server stack is up and running. Follow the sequential steps below to complete initial configuration, secure your server, and connect your desktop clients.
Post-Installation Setup
Access Dashboard
Open your web browser and navigate to your server's address:
- Local Network:
http://<your-server-ip>:8080(e.g.,http://192.168.1.50:8080) - Domain / Reverse Proxy:

Login Using Initial Root Account
Log in using the default administrative credentials automatically provisioned on first startup:
- Username:
root - Password:
000000
The initial root account uses a well-known default password. You should replace it with a dedicated administrator account before exposing your server.
Create New Root Account with Another Password
To secure your server, create a new personal administrator account:
- Navigate to the User profiles section in the dashboard.
- Click New profile (
+). - Enter your desired administrator name and customize avatar, theme, and language.
- Enter a secure 6-character password.
- Enable Dashboard access to grant administrative privileges.
- Click Save changes.
Test the New Root Account
Verify that your new administrator account is working properly before removing the default credentials:
- Log out of the web dashboard.
- Sign in using your newly created administrator profile and password.
- Confirm that you have full access to dashboard settings and profile management.
Disable or Delete the Old Root Account
Once confirmed, remove or restrict the initial default root account:
- In the User profiles list, locate the default
rootaccount. - Click the Delete (trash icon) button to permanently remove it, or click Edit and disable Dashboard access.
Add a Second Account or Edit Existing to Grant Client Access
Configure user profiles for streaming via desktop client apps:
- Add a new profile: Click New profile, set a name and a 6-character password, and toggle Client access ON.
- Edit an existing profile: Click Edit on any profile and ensure Client access is enabled.
- Keep Dashboard access toggled OFF for regular household users to restrict administrative access.
- Click Save changes.
Start Initial Metadata Sync
In the dashboard, click Start Sync to start the initial syncing of the metadata.
The initial sync takes some time and will download a minimum of 1 GB of content. You can proceed with connecting your client apps while the app is syncing in the background.
Connect with Client
Install the AniStream Client application on your devices and link it to your server:
- Launch the AniStream Client app on your computer.
- Enter your server URL (e.g.,
https://anistream.yourdomain.comorhttp://192.168.1.50:8080). - Select your user profile from the list.
- Enter your 6-character password to log in and start streaming!
