SQLite Storage

SQLite architecture, configuration settings, and automatic schema migrations.

SQLite provides basic read/write performance, requires no external database server processes, and keeps all data organized in clean, portable files.

It is not recommended to use SQLite when you expect many users to access your service simultaneously.

Database Files

SQLite uses multiple databases files:

  1. profiles.db:
  • Stores user accounts, authentication tokens, and profile preferences (e.g. language and themes).
  • Manages permission flags (e.g. client access, dashboard admin).
  • Initializes a default root account on first run.
  1. {provider}/metadata.db (e.g. aniworld/metadata.db):
  • Stores media metadata: series titles, covers, season lists, and episode stream links.
  • Stores your watch history, resume timestamps, and custom user playlists.
  • Manages background scraper sync queues.

Configuration Variables

When configuring your server environment, the following database settings are used:

VariableDescriptionDefault Value
DATABASE_DRIVERDatabase storage enginesqlite
DATABASE_PROFILE_CONNECTION_STRINGPath to profiles databaseData Source=/data/assets/profiles.db
DATABASE_METADATA_CONNECTION_STRINGPattern for provider databases ({0} = provider)Data Source=/data/assets/{0}/metadata.db

You never need to manually execute SQL scripts or create database tables.

Next Step: Return to Your Host Deployment Guide

After selecting and configuring your storage settings, return to your host platform guide to start the services:
